Imagine you're stuck somewhere in a jungle with a machete - how do you progress?
Behind you, a cliff rises as high as you can see. Machete? Absolutely no.
Look ahead and there are trees. Machete? Still no.
Turn left, and you see a thicket of vines dangling. Machete? Probably.
Turn right, and this time you see small thorny bushes. Machete? Yes! Definitely yes!
You wade through the jungle using the machete to clear the path ahead of you.
You progress not by taking on the biggest obstacle, but the lowest one - first.
If there's some gargantuan problem you cannot fix, look for something lower - then fix it.
Once that is done, repeat.
Sometimes you don't know what you want, but there are always things you know you don't want. Eliminate them.
Before you know it, you're making progress.
